About Antioch

Antioch is a suburb of Nashville, Tennessee, which is located in the southern part of Davidson County. This is not independent, and governed by the Nashville-Davidson metropolitan government. The approximate population is 60,320.

Presence of large quantities of affordable housing has led to the influx of young families with children, very overtaxing schools in the region, which has been overcrowded for decades, and remains so, despite the extensive construction program and the development of some private schools, mainly in the church - related. A large number of new immigrants have come to Antioch, in the last two decades, initially attracted to the affordable housing and the presence of immigrant communities. Migrants are predominantly in Southeast Asia and Latin America, but many come from other places.

The most important company in Antioch is Hickory Hollow Mall, which opened in 1978 and has been renovated and expanded several times since. This is typical of a large suburban shopping mall "anchor" stores such as Sears, Macy * s and Dilliards and, of course, still much smaller than the interior shops. A lot of the new Walmart Supercenter and strip shopping malls are also open in the region attracting large-scale home builders such as Centex and Beazer Homes to open large , new subdivisions.

Starwood Amphitheater, Nashville primary outdoor music venue, is located a few miles south of Antioch on the Rutherford County line.
